Description and Geographical Position
Pigna: at the foot of Pre-alps, is the pride of the upper Nervia Valley.
The landscape is unique for its mixture of orchards, vineyards and olive-groves.
Reaching a 1000 metre vegetation is rich with chestnuts, larches and fir-trees.
It is possible to have interesting hikes, horse-rides and mountain-bike trips.
In winter you can also practice cross-country-skiing in Melosa.
The peaks of Toraggio and Pietravecchia protect wildlife as the Royal eagle, the marmot, and
chamois, and a rare specimen of flora: "Saxifraga", an arctic zone plant.
During the course of time the limestone ground has helped the natural formation of many grottoes seen in the vicinity.
